A 12-foot Intermezzo dining table, a custom platform bed and an industrial office cabinet—designed as one material story.

For this modern home in Ellijay, solid walnut became the thread connecting three very different rooms.
The centerpiece is a twelve-foot version of our Intermezzo Tri Dining Table. From there, the same wood moves into a substantial platform bed with matching bedside storage, then shifts into a more industrial language for the client’s tall office cabinet.

At this length, proportion matters as much as craftsmanship. The clean Intermezzo supports give the walnut top enough visual weight without adding clutter beneath it, leaving room for a generous run of chairs and preserving the architecture’s long sightlines.
A table that belongs to the architecture.
The dining area is open, pale and surrounded by wood-framed glass. Walnut repeats the kitchen cabinetry and window trim, but its varied grain keeps the space from feeling overly matched. The expansive top becomes a horizontal counterpoint to the vertical forest beyond the windows.
Black lighting and fireplace details give the clean Intermezzo form an architectural edge. Even at twelve feet, the room’s daylight and long views allow the table to feel grounded rather than oversized.
A solid walnut platform bed with presence.
The bedroom called for a quieter interpretation: a broad walnut headboard, low platform frame and matching bedside drawer units with floating stone-topped surfaces. The scale is substantial, but the simple geometry keeps the room calm.
Industrial storage for the office.
The third commission takes walnut in a tougher direction. A tall black metal framework surrounds open walnut shelves and a bank of solid walnut drawers, creating useful office storage without losing the warmth present throughout the rest of the home.
This is why walnut wins: the same wood can feel refined at dinner, restful in a bedroom and decisively industrial in an office.
